What is Zappy?

Zappy is the world’s first blockchain-based data monetization app for GenZ, allowing users to earn an income by voluntarily sharing their data with brands.

When you browse the web and watch video ads online, your data is currently being harvested by the world’s most dominant information technology firms — often known as ‘Big Tech’ (think Google, Meta, Amazon…) — and sold on to multinational retailers in the form of insight into your hobbies, interests, tastes and online behavior, Zappy aims to disrupt this power balance such that ordinary internet users may also profit from the provision of their valuable data to retailers.

Zappy aims to create a world where users are not simply passive subjects but, on the contrary, are at the center of the advertising process. By choosing the video content they watch in the app, they will actively inform the brands’ market research and gain awareness of their data sharing rights while making a profit.

Data monetization to the benefit of Zappy users will be organized across five different earning models in the app, rewarding users with the in-app currency COINZ, which will be redeemable for our on-chain ERC-20 asset $ZPY. These earning models are:

1. Watch-to-Earn

  • Every Zappy user can select the preferred categories of video content they wish to see while interacting with the app.
  • The Video Reel will then showcase a set of video content that the user may choose to watch on that basis.
  • You’ll then be asked to answer a set of three progressively more challenging questions about the content you have just viewed. The more accurate your responses, the more COINZ you earn!

2. Share-to-Earn

  • Our algorithms are configured to understand your brand preferences based on your in-app behavior. You’ll be offered the opportunity to participate in a paid survey commissioned by relevant brands to better understand their target markets.
  • Zappy is the first technology dedicated to GenZ and brands to generate first-party and zero-party data that can strategically drive brand decisions. Zappy opens a new data-driven frontier of communication and a direct relationship with the target audience.
  • With Zappy, brands can collect voluntary and spontaneous data from their target audience. And you get paid for it!

3. Play2Earn (P2E)

  • Zappy is a high-rate engagement tool supported by a sophisticated game dynamics architecture.
  • Through playful mechanisms, the app is perceived as a level game, where each level allows the users to access new features and to reach higher status, all while constantly learning and earning.
  • Zappy’s gamification structure and philosophy (Zapper Customer Journey) have been designed to guarantee its users the best possible gaming experience they could ever find in a video content application.
  • Augmented reality, in-app games, PVP challenges, daily quests, user-generated content and various other entertainment tools will have users hooked on earning money in Zappy.

4. Learn-to-Earn

As the world of cryptocurrency and NFTs continues its exponential growth trajectory, there is a critical duty to educate younger populations — specifically GenZ — on both the risks and the opportunities that lie within the realm of digital asset ownership and management. Equally imperative in the Information Age is a robust understanding of one’s data privacy rights and the consequences of falling prey to unsolicited online data harvesting.

We will incentivize our target audience’s education journey; our educational content will specifically cover the following aspects:

  • How your online data is collected
  • Who makes use of your online data
  • How online advertisements are rendered
  • How to acquire cryptocurrency and NFTs on blockchain
  • How to migrate cryptocurrency and NFTs between blockchains and centralized exchanges
  • How to stake, farm and provide liquidity to cryptocurrencies

5. Create-to-earn

As Zappy users progress through the levels with their in-app actions and achievement, they will progressively unlock greater Editor features that allow them creative licence to design their own NFT accessories. Editors will be able to upload their own creative content, superimposing it onto NFT templates to create a personal brand or collection of items. They can also publicize their store — from which other users can purchase their NFT creations — in the form of a video ad.

In Phase 2 of Zappy’s rollout, the app will essentially become a user-generated content aggregator, whereby all Editors’ content is hosted and displayed to brands using Zappy to advertise. Brands can then choose to co-opt content generated by users into their own advertising, and even ‘hire’ users who display a strong interest in them as paid influencers.
